The topic delivered was “Non-Verbal Communication in Classrooms”. It involved all the non-verbal clues which being course instructor we used to give to our students in the classrooms. It began with the general definition of communication followed by the significance of non-verbal communication by displaying a comparative chart highlighting the percentage of verbal and non-verbal communication in the delivery of a message. It then showed another chart mentioning different styles of non-verbal clues and their percentage in the communication of the intended message. The topic then moved towards different types of non-verbal signs and their explanation. The non-verbal communication involves Body gestures, body postures, standing styles, facial expressions, hand movements, head movements, movement of facial organs like eye brows, lips, eyes etc., paralinguistics features involving voice quality, pitch and frequency of voice, highness and lowness of voice and most importantly the eye contact. The presenter explained these points with relating them to real life examples in classrooms. The presentation concluded by putting emphases on the importance of SMILE in classrooms and its impact on students.
